Theme 1: Transformation of Rural Economies |

This theme includes broad issues such as agricultural diversification,
commercialization and chain management. Ongoing projects include: |

- Rural Transformation and Farmer Response in Irrigated Lowland

- Enhancement of CAPSA Database with Poverty Indicators

- Forecasting Food Security under El Nino in Asia and the Pacific (ELNINO SEA)

Theme 2: Pro Poor Policies for Rural Development |

This theme includes action-oriented practices and policies for projects
and programmes, not only at the national level but also at the community
level. Ongoing projects include |
- Certification of Fresh and Processed Produce: Impacts on Small
Farmers (including training courses on branding/franchising/food
safety) (CERT).
- Development of Methodology for Analyzing Sustainability of
Biomass Resource Use in Tropical Asia (BIOMASS)

- Promoting
Accessibility to Land for the landless and Marginal Farmers (LANDPOL)
