The objectives:
The major objective of the project is to identify the impacts of
expanding biomass energy use in the tropical Asian countries, especially
by focusing on secondary crop farmers and rural poor people.
The activities:
- Compile and collect information on the evaluation process of
Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) proposals in the National
Commission for Climate Change in Indonesia.
- Analyse impacts of the different biomass energy development
scenarios on land allocation, input use, labour absorption, income
structure and environment
- Share information with stakeholders through dissemination of
reports and personal interaction
The outcomes:
- Information about the impacts of expanding biomass energy use in
the selected sub-region in the participating country is compiled and
available to project stakeholders. The information includes the
expected changes in rural poverty and welfare of rural societies

- The above report was disseminated among policymakers and is
available from CAPSA’s website or upon request
- The report was submitted to the Government of Indonesia to
ensure that the findings of the study are taken into consideration
when the Government further develops its policies regarding biofuel.
